Is "Tooth Gold" Actually Real Gold?
It’s a question we get almost every week at the shop. A customer comes in with a small baggie containing an old gold crown or bridge, looking a bit embarrassed. "I don't know if this is worth anything," they say, "or if it's even real gold."
The short answer? Yes, it is absolutely worth money.
While dental gold isn't pure 24k gold (because pure gold would be too soft to chew on!), it is a high-quality alloy. Most dental gold tests between 10k and 16k, meaning it contains a significant amount of precious metal.
How We Value Dental Gold
Selling dental gold is different than selling a ring. Because there is often biological material, cement, or porcelain attached, we can't just throw it on the scale immediately.
We Remove the Excess: We carefully remove the "tooth weight" (cement/porcelain) so we are only weighing the metal.
We Test the Purity: Using our XRF technology or acid testing, we determine the exact karat of the gold.
We Pay You Cash: We pay based on the current market spot price for that specific karat.

Pro-Tip: Don't try to clean it yourself! We have the tools to handle it safely. Just bring it in as-is.
